The wife of Lao Prime Minister gave recognition to our products!


On 8 December 2018, Mrs. Naree Sisoulit, the wife of Lao Prime Minister, visited our booth in the Young Entrepreneur Association of Laos (YEAL) green bazaar. The YEAL green bazaar is an eco-friendly bazaar which aims to raise awareness of the environment and environmentally friendly young entrepreneurs. We are glad that Mrs. Naree Sisoulit recognizes our brand through our featured newspapers and magazines and complimented on our product design. We also feel honored that she became one of our prestigious customers! Thank you Mrs. Naree Sisoulit!

Our New Lantan ethnic Team!


On 14 November 2018, Her Works developed a new Lantan ethnic team consisting of 20 women and 8 children. We are glad to see children joining the team as they see the potential in improving their families lives with their unique handicraft skills. This helps to sustain the ethnic group and their unique culture with the next generation willing to learn more about their own culture.

Mangmee won an Award for Product of Excellence!


On October 2018, “Mangmee”, one of Her Works product, won an award for product of excellence from the Minister of Industry and Commerce during the Lao Handicraft Festival. The Lao Handicraft Festival is organized by JETRO and Lao Handicraft Association in Vientiane, Lao PDR. The competition held in 2017 aims to search for the most suitable handcrafted gift for important events. We are glad that “Mangmee” gained the public recognition with its outstanding design and is chosen to be presented as a gift for important events.

Good Design Award 2018


On 31 October 2018, the business concept of Her Works won the Good Design Award in Tokyo, Japan. Japan's Good Design Award program is a uniquely comprehensive platform for design evaluation and advocacy. Her Work’s business concept is unique and outstanding as it uses eco-friendly and natural fiber to make their products while helping the Lao minority ethnic community.

Her Works won 3rd Prize in the Sozai contest at Laos!


On 29 October 2018, Her Works won the 3rd prize in the Sozai contest which is meant for interior design. The Sozai contest aids Lao handicraft to enter the overseas interior design market and the top 8 winners will have the chance to feature their product in Tokyo. The handicraft design of Her Works which won the third prize is handmade by using natural color dye and fiber.

On 7 September 2018, our founder, Tookta participated in the Selangor International business summit 2018 as a panelist on inspiring a new wave of young entrepreneurship. During this event, Tookta shared on her challenges and insights in expanding HerWorks within the region.





2 July 2018

Guest Lecturer at Futaba High School


On 2nd July 2018, Tookta conducted cultural exchange classes at a female high school in Tokyo before and after the Lao Festival held at Tokyo Yoyogi Park. The Laos Festival exhibition and exchange classes were held by two companies, namely Lao-Japan Gateway Co. Limited and HerWorks. During the Lao Festival, Lao minority ethnic products from HerWorks was exhibited to the Japanese and both companies made presentations on the satellite stage. This festival creates awareness of the Laos minority ethnic group’s products and deepens the cross-cultural understanding between the Japanese and Laotians.

ASEAN Enterprising Traveler Program at Laos


On 28 June 2018, Her Works was awarded a certification of appreciation from the ASEAN enterprising traveler program for hosting the Brunei students. During the exchange, Her Works shared their mission and promoted the varies Lao ethnic she is working with. The Brunei students also get to learn more about the challenges of a social enterprise and be more concern about the environment.

Attending the Laos festival 2018 in Tokyo


On 27 May 2018, our founder, Tookta gave a short speech introducing HerWorks at the Laos Festival 2018 in Tokyo, at Yoyogi park. During the speech, Tookta introduced HerWorks and the company’s efforts in sustaining the Lao culture and preventing the extinction of the minority ethnic groups in Lao. Tookta also shared the importance of helping Laos ethnic with the Japanese to gain their interest and support in Lao ethnic products.

Visiting the Katu Ethnic


On 19 April 2018, Tookta visited the Katu ethnic in Lao Ngam village at Salavan Province. While she is in the village, she studies the ethnic’s artisans lifestyle and explores opportunities to invest in their handicrafts. The Katu ethnic is known for backstrap loom weaving and the use of beads to decorate their fabric.

Visiting the Lue Ethnic


On 3 April 2018, Tookta visited the Lue ethnic to study about their lifestyle, unique culture and the type of handicraft they could produce. Tookta explored the opportunties that could be provided to the ethnic to extend their reach to the current external market. By immersing herself into the Lue ethnic culture, Tookta undertand more about the challenges faced by the ethnic and Tookta decided to do a documentary in their village to help promote about their culture and unique handicraft skills. The Lue ethnic is also a minority laos ethnic which only take up 3 percent of the Lao population. The Lue speciality works includes handwoven cotton and natural colour dye.

Visiting the Khmu Ethnic


On 2 April 2018, Tookta visited the Khmu ethnic to study about their lifestyle, unique culture and the type of handicraft they could produce. Similarly, Tookta explored the opportunties that could be provided to the ethnic to extend their reach to the current external market. By immersing herself into the Khmu ethnic culture, Tookta understands more about the challenges faced by the ethnic and decided to do a documentary in their village to help promote their culture and unique handicraft skills. The Khmu ethnic is also a minority Laos ethnic which only takes up 22 percent of the Lao population. The Khmu specialty works include jungle vine products.

On 31 March 2018, Tookta visited the Yao ethnic to study about their lifestyle, unique culture and the type of handicraft they could produce. Tookta also explored the opportunties that could be provided to the ethnic to extend their reach to the current external market. Through interacting and experiencing the Yao ethnic culture, Tookta decided to do a documentary in their village to help promote about their culture and handicraft skills. The Yao ethnic is a minority laos ethnic which only take up 3 percent of the Lao population. The Yao speciality works includes a unique style of embroidery and bamboo vining.

Visting the Lantan Ethnic


On 30 March 2018, Tookta visited the Lantan ethnic to study on their lifestyle, unique culture and the type of handicraft they could produce. Tookta also explored the opportunities that could be provided to the ethnic to extend their reach to the current external market. Through interacting and experiencing the Lantan ethnic culture, Tookta decided to do a documentary in their village to help promote their culture and handicraft skills. The Lantan ethnic is a minority Laos ethnic which only takes up 2 percent of the Lao population. The Lantan specialty works include hand spinning, handwoven cotton, natural color dye, embroidery and mulberry paper crafting.

Our Contribution to the Women's Entrepreneurial Centre


From 21 to 23 March 2018, our founder, Tookta participated in the Women's Entrepreneurial Centre (WEC) as a guest speaker. The establishment of the WEC in Vientiane will give women a space to create, innovate, and sustain a business under the mentorship of experts in their field. The WEC will offer access to successful female business role models, equipment and resources, training in small business management, and access to information on finance. The in-house training helps these women to identify their strength and transform into a new business idea. During the training, Tookta shared her entrepreneurial journey and the challenges she faced during their business venture. Tookta’s efforts contribute back to the women empowerment community and guided a few female participants in their entrepreneurial learning journey.

Invitation to Lao Culture Challenge Fund


On 10 February 2018, our founder, Tookta was invited to the Lao Culture Challenge Fund (LCCF) as a guest speaker. The LCCF is set up by the Switzerland embassy and the funds came from the Swiss agency for development and cooperation purpose. Tookta shared her entreprenuerial journey and experience with a group of social enterprise owners to inspire them and guide them in developing their revenue stream. As such, the varies social enterprise will be able to sustain their social enterprise and continue to help improve the financial, social and environmental well-being of Laos.
